The Rollickin Gelato pride dog walk, with Sweet As Pup!
This week is Pride Week in Christchurch, which is a time for people (and their furry friends!) to come together to support and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. For the second year in a row, we were delighted to be part of Rollickin Gelato's pride dog walk as part of Christchurch Pride Week. Rollickin is known for its dog walks around Christchurch, where a walk around the central city is followed by a serving of woof woof gelato (dog icecream!).
Dog lovers came out in force with their pups in all sorts of fabulous rainbow attire. From wings to tutus to a spider costume, we saw it all this year! Little Miss Cinnamon led the walk - in heels none the less - for 30 minutes around the centre of the beautiful garden city. Craig at Furtography captured some great shots of the attendees.
On return to Rollickin's Cashel Street store, furry friends were able to get a scoop of woof woof gelato in exchange for a gold coin donation to Qtopia. $246.70 was raised going to Qtopia's work supporting rainbow young people in Otautahi. Ethique kindly donated mini dog shampoo and conditioner bars which were given away to lucky pooches, while we donated two prizes for best dressed. It was hard to choose a winner out of so many amazing costumes, especially the humans who dressed to match their dogs!
The annual pride dog walk is an excellent way to show that you support the rainbow community while also having fun with your furry friends, but why not spread the love all year round? Supporting organisations that advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community can be a way to take your support to the next level. You can donate to these organisations or volunteer your time to help with events and activities throughout the year.
Thanks to every human and dog who joined us for this year's pride dog walk for helping to create a more inclusive and accepting society for everyone. We'll see you next year!
