Open since 2004, this local gastropub in the heart of Merivale is one of our faves for good food, great drinks, and a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere where both humans and dogs can feel welcome.

Dog-friendly all year round

No.4 is super dog-friendly, with a cosy courtyard that’s both heated and covered, so your fur baby can enjoy it no matter the weather. The staff are awesome and always have water bowls on hand, plus, if your dog’s lucky, they might score a little treat! And if you really want to spoil them, you can even grab some Cocomutt Ice Cream for dessert.

No.4 is located right in the heart of Merivale, just a quick 5-10 minute drive from the city centre. Their menu is epic! Think delicious steaks, drool-worthy flatbreads (my personal fave), and all the wine and cocktails you could ever want. Dog day – the best day ever!

Twice a year, No.4 throws a Dog Day, and it’s the best!. Sweet As Pup joins in the fun, offering epic prizes and goodies for sale. The next one’s coming up on Sunday 22 September 2024, so grab your pup, book a table, and come hang out with us! Sweet As Pup will be there from 10am to 1pm, and you know we’re bringing the best goodies. There's also a massive raffle to support Assistance Dogs New Zealand.

The people at No.4 love dogs as much as we do! Daiki, one of the waiters, is the resident phodographer who is always snapping pics of the pups and making them feel right at home. And if you're looking for more places around town to dine with your pup, you’re in luck! No.4’s owners, Maestro Hospitality, also run some other amazing dog-friendly spots like Fiddlesticks and Beach Sumner, where dogs are just as welcome. Perfect for a city or beachside outing!
