Matt and Jules' story

Matt and Jules, the Founders of Sweet As Pup, got their dog Ruby when she was 12 weeks old. Matt had grown up with dogs and wanted one of his own, whereas Jules was quite the opposite having had several bad encounters with dogs when she was a child.

Ruby went to two different puppy training schools, but neither Matt nor Jules felt they were getting what they needed from these classes. They didn't understand why they were training Ruby with these techniques and she wasn't learning or growing from these lessons.

Matt and Jules had heard amazing things about KURI and took her along for an assessment. Ruby started puppy school with KURI and from the online seminar commencing the course, Matt and Jules quickly learnt that it wasn't Ruby that needed training - it was them! Over the duration of the course Matt realised  the enrichment Ruby got from training and learning. He said "Ruby just loves learning new things and is incredibly smart! Her day to day behaviour is so much better not just because we did the KURI course, but because we practice what we learnt from KURI on an ongoing basis. They gave us the tools to train our dog". Jules has overcome her fear of dogs and realised she had many misconceptions about canines. She said "I thought dogs were aggressive when in reality they are often scared or nervous, just like humans. Training with KURI put me in a dog's shoes and taught me how to train Ruby. I see the best out of her when we're practicing her skills and i'm so proud of how far she's come".

KURI's online dog training

We are delighted to offer you two online dog training courses with KURI - one for adult dogs and one for puppies.

KURI was founded by Geoff Bowers in Christchurch in 2015 and offers stress and pain free, neurological training. They will guide you on a journey of discovery into a world where anyone can communicate with their dog. Understanding your dog's behaviour will help you to use the correct approach to suit the situation and ultimately build a better relationship and bond with your dog. KURI places the emphasis on teaching you to become teachers, learning to read your dogs body language and teaching you how to correct behaviours without shouting, or saying “NO”.

When you sign up for KURI's online dog training, you'll be given access to their online portal which has a curriculum you can work your way through in your own time. It contains seminars, written material, and videos so it's easy to learn the skills you need to train your dog.
